A twist on Gothic Horror
Gothic Horror goes beyond scary monsters -- in this genre, the setting itself becomes a character. It embodies a sense of temporal dread and it is full of contradictions regarding human life. And so for this design, I imagined Miku as a vengeful ghost haunting the moat of a castle, blending traditional gothic elements with a modern twist. Her look is inspired by gothic lolita and vkei fashion. With a haunting appearance, she lures passersby with both beauty and song.
Some key points include the verticality in the design, as well as the fine lace details, which echo Gothic architecture from the Dark Ages. In contrast, the silhouette of the dress, along with the chains and belts, gives a contemporary gothic edge, which are seen in both Eastern and Western gothic fashion.
I enjoyed drawing such a contradictory design. Thank you for the opportunity.
