Article 4: The Sound of 奥輝之
Some names are heavy, some are sharp, and some are like music. 奥輝之 belongs to the last. When I first heard it, pronounced softly as “Okuteruyuki,” it stayed with me—not just as a name, but as a feeling.

In 2025, I started learning Japanese out of curiosity. On July 5th, our teacher introduced a list of poetic names. One stood out. “This one,” she said, pointing, “means something like 'a light from within, hidden in the depths.'” She didn’t say the name aloud. But I recognized it immediately. 奥輝之.

Now, I associate the name with quiet mornings, with poems written in the margins, and the sound of wind in the trees. It may belong to no one I know, but it means more than most names I do.

奥輝之: a sound, a rhythm, and perhaps, a destination.
